Attorney advertising
This website is attorney advertising. It is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Nothing on this site should be construed as formal legal advice or as forming a lawyer/client relationship.
No attorney-client relationship
Contacting Barney Injury Law through this website, by email, or by submitting a contact form does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship is formed only after a written fee agreement is signed by both you and the firm. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information through this website until such a relationship has been established, as information sent before then may not be protected or privileged.
Past results
Case results depend upon a variety of factors unique to each case. Past results do not guarantee, warrant, or predict a similar outcome in any future case. Every case is different and must be judged on its own merits.
Fees
Barney Injury Law handles personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis: attorney's fees are a percentage of the recovery, and no attorney's fee is charged unless a recovery is obtained. Clients may be responsible for case costs and expenses (for example, filing fees, expert fees, and medical records) as specified in the written fee agreement.
No specialization
Virginia does not have a procedure for approving certifying organizations. Scott R. Barney is not certified as a specialist by any organization. References to experience describe the firm's practice focus, not a certification.
Jurisdiction
Scott R. Barney is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This site is not intended to solicit clients for matters outside Virginia or where the firm is not licensed.
